hola che pasa!
it's alright, i arrived safely, no one cried, and the turbulence was fun. carmen is uber kewl and this island is sweet. i went for a bit of an exploration, found the lawn bowls and golf course and had a kahlua and milk while chatting to the wizened barman. i got a cigarette out of him by buying a full shot, b/c i felt so good. but i'm still on track. then this local in his beat up fishing truck gave me a lift into town. it'll take me a day or so to get used to the fact the everyone waves but they're not all cheery friendly, instead just concentrating intently on their task at hand. it's great, macca you should come over. i mean, i'm still to check the job situ fully, but just the air and the fact you're on a island separated from anything but a simple life routine will work wonders. and that goes for anyone else whose considering.
it looks like i'll have net access so i'll try to write a decent blog or group email every couple of days. let me know address of ppl who are bitching coz they never hear from me. dave/dewi can you also make sure i get any correspondence from simon, nah don't wory about it, i'll fix it up now.
dave, just give in and write the first email. i can feel the creative juices flowing through me. at least i thought they were creative juices until they spurted, gushed forth in a sticky gump. but don't worry i've ingested them and they should flow normally by tomorrow.
let lukas know i didn't get my stick through the airport, b/c it had been lit and smelled of kero. stoopid fuckers. about as stoopid as me carrying a kitchen knife, a pair of pliers (wrapped in a slingshot) and a scraper thingy in my hand luggage. it wasn't hand luggage for long, but that was a blessing in disguise b/c there was no room in the plane. and carmen pointed out the smaller one saying "just wait till you fly in one of them".
wow i still haven't slept and i'm about to pass out. be grateful for my gifts. tomorrow i'll offer to start working the organic line and extend my feelers further into the community.
til then...au 'voir.
ali
